RECENT WORK EXPERIENCE

Curator, gallery owner and artist at ‘Aoibhin Maguire Gallery and Studio’ (March 2021-September 2021).

  • In response to the first year of my MA being online, I took over a large vacant unit in a shopping mall near me and turned it into a gallery and studio, where I regularly presented exhibitions of my work.

  • I also used this space to support other local artists, curating and organising an exhibition of 12 local artists in this space called ‘EMERGING, A Room Full of Art’ (August 2021). As well as curating the exhibition, I organised the opening night, invitations, all social media promotion and interviews with local press, sales, health and safety, as well as a visit from the Lord Mayor. The title ‘EMERGING’ came from the idea of artists finally emerging after the coronavirus pandemic.

  • I also taught one to one art classes/workshops in the gallery, and opened it up as a space for local artists to collaborate, including writers and singers.
